RAVeL and the Trans-Ardennes Green Way
If you are a keen cyclist, the Green Ways, which are reserved for non-motorised traffic, are an ideal way for you to explore the perfectly preserved green countryside of the Ardennes. Ride along the banks of the Meuse, ride across the huge, secret Oignies-en-Thiérache forest… you will soon learn what it means to “ride the happiness trail”.
Cross the Meuse on genuine works of art. Ride from one former railway station to another to the edge of the thick Nismes forest, following the trail of the old stopping trains. And, above all, discover the invigorating beauty of countryside inaccessible by car.
The “Transardennaise” or the “Grande Traversée des Ardennes”
The “Grande Traversée des Ardennes” is a series of routes, some of which are waymarked, which you can follow on foot (walking, Nordic walking or running), on a mountain-bike, on a bicycle or on horseback…however you like to enjoy a unique experience in the Ardennes!
Starting at La Roche and passing through Saint-Hubert, Nassogne, Redu and Daverdisse before ending at Bouillon, this superb 160km route crosses the marvellous valleys of the Rivers Ourthe, Lhomme, Lesse and Semois.
It offers an excellent opportunity to combine the pleasures of sport and exercise with the gastronomic pleasures of authentic local specialities.
A good plan
Once you have arrived at Bouillon, you can continue your adventure along the Ardenne-Eifel “Rhine-Meuse” route to Monthermé or you can join the “Transgaumaise” or the “Transfamenne” or the “Ardenne on Foot” or the “Escapardenne”… all routes to freedom!
